"At Turves Green Primary everyone is valued and included. Pupils say that their school ‘is a special place because no one is an outsider, and no one is left out’. Pupils, parents and staff agree this is a school that is getting better every day."

World Book Day 2024

What a wonderful day we've had!

After a Well Done Assembly with a "Tiger Who Came To Tea", there were a variety of activities throughout school that embraced and celebrated all things BOOKS, and all things READING! From book marks to character designs...stories shared to stories written; the afternoon was a pleasure to be a part of.

Reading is one of the most important things we can all do for out children. According to the National Literacy Trust:

There can be few things as powerful as regularly reading to a young child. It has astonishing benefits for children: comfort and reassurance, confidence and security, relaxation, happiness and fun. Giving a child time and full attention when reading them a story tells them they matter. It builds self-esteem, vocabulary and feeds imagination.

Sharing a book brings joy to everyone involved. Today, it has been an honour to witness staff and children sharing their favourite books, authors and characters as they wait for lunch or out on the playground. Many of us have walked away with an idea of something new to try. We look forward to hearing about any books you buy or borrow over the next few weeks; remember your local library is easy to join and easy to use (and has resident experts to guide you in the right direction).
